1.
"On The Way Home" by Viking Moses. On the way home, every front porch light on all the riled up children falling down on the fire red lawns, while mothers wave from their tomato gardens with the babies tugging on their aprons to cheer us on. On the way home, passing woods dogs howl from, don't be scared they're far, far, far, too far now to do us harm. Use these little stars to guide and to remind you fear is far, far, far, too far now to do us harm. On the way home, dancing with laughs airborne through the conquest night, reaching up our arms to the smoldered skies, catching kisses falling lightly to our tempted hands and faces while we drop our lives. Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.

Howling Dogs 02:37
"Howling Dogs" by Viking Moses. My little head there on her lap, it fell there, dizzy, laughing at our luck, so we bed down our smiling heads, and go to town. The night did sweat, so strong we went. The howling dogs picked up our scent and followed down to where we lie on the forest ground. The first comes, jumps, and knocks me off. Teeth sink in and searing hot, while the moon and stars above just seem to stand watching us. Broken down and on my back, barely can withstand attack from just this one over me, not to say the four close behind. Then a screaming from the sky led a silver light into our lives. It met the ground a burst of flame and drove the dogs away. She comes to see what she has left under the blood covering my chest: a heart that is still beating, a heart that is still dancing for her, a heart that is still beating, a heart that is still dancing for her. Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
3.
"Fire Burning Red" by Viking Moses. The stars have dimmed their lights to the sky so orange and bright on this conquest night. Grab an arm and prop me up, help me stand upright, then put one foot before the next. Then put the next ahead. And this way, lead us through the wood with fire burning red, and we will run through. And we run through... Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
4.
"Follow Foreign Love" by Viking Moses. Into the night again, hello stars, where you been? You remember my good friend? Well, I've been seeing her by the light that you send. And we follow foreign love far for love. See her dance with me and smile, not one more word for another mile. And when we wet our hands and tongues, you will hear the song come shouting from our lungs, while we follow foreign love far for love. Soon, we'll rest our little legs in some little nest upon the way. I'll hold her here until she begs for our little selves to tangle up and play. And we follow foreign love far for love. Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
5.
"A House Up Along The Way" by Viking Moses. Listen to me babe, there's a house up along the way where a good man used to stay up all night. He'd lie out in the yard, his attention to the stars, not a mile from where we are now under the same light. But listen to me dear, there is something that you should hear, before we go to near, there is something to say. It'll be ten years today, it'll be ten years today that a good man passed away under the same light. Listen to me babe, it'll be sixty-four years today that two kids parted ways under the same light. He took her into his hands, put a thousand kisses where they would land, while a new man waited, watching them in the cold of the night. She said, "Listen to me babe, our love won't go away. It will be with us always under the same light." And as she disappeared from sight, right then, and every night stars would form and hold him tight from above him as he cried, "Love, please don't go away! Love! Please, don't go away!" Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.

Crowned 03:05
"Crowned" by Viking Moses. Drink to me only with thine eyes, I will pledge also with mine. Drink to me only, drink unto me, i plan to kiss, but not ask for wine. And I've been crowned by the love in the stars, and I will always be at home in their arms. Come out, my Darling, come out to play! Don't hide from aching, it's the shiniest ray. Come on, my Darling, come out to play, show off the fire, the blackest burns stay! And we've been crowned by the love in the stars, and we will always be at home in their arms! Song originally written by Scout Niblett.

"Down In The Water Below" by Viking Moses. Hand in hand the whole world ends down at the water below. See the conquest night moon bend down on the water below. Take off our clothes so we can swim down in the water below. It's cold just when we first get in, down in the water below. All the dancing fireflies, down by the water below standing up to starlit skies down by the water below. And so we swim, and so we swim down in the water below. A broken branch lets moonlight in down on the water below, so we can see each place we been down in the water below. In each eye, each hand, and grin down in the water below. Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
8.
"Cardboard Swords" by Viking Moses. Bow to the moon, and we leave the lake. Stop at a tree, and we carve our names. Look to the sky above where we are. Follow the light of a falling star. Then look to the left, and we're found by the others with swords in their hands and heads draped with feathers. They stare. Then drop to their knees, and we can't hold our laughter, "All we have got is all we are after, I swear! And you cannot protect this or take it with weapons, so why don't you get up and bow to the heavens and skies!" And the ground keeps their cardboard swords where they left them while they're off chasing after the source of their mothers' cries. Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
9.
Hayfields 02:35
"Hayfields" by Viking Moses. Children disappear up over the hill on a night so clear, through the air so still. Send them off on a running start, hear them scream through the dark while they tear though the hayfields. We follow down, and fast so we can see them still through the chest high grass like cats after the kill. Send them off on a running start, hear us scream the dark while we tear through the hayfields. Then she lets the children go, and she turns and she wrestles me down. Then she tears my sleeve, wraps it up on her head for a crown. Then she jumps on my chest, and with her knees pins my shoulders down, laughing, "who is your little Queen, who is your little Queen now?!" Then children disappear up over the hill on a night so clear, through the air so still. Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
10.
"Leave Each Moment" by Viking Moses. Drowsy, drowsy, drowsy little girl pulls her gentle, lidded eyes closed to the world, and a soft wind tells of our night by the smell of the ash that it brings. And a dim, yellow, porch light on a hill dances her way to her face so calm and still and invites my eyes to behold and live by such wondrous things. And only our hearts are left to understand that to measure or hold onto this night with our hands is to never grow, to never bring to light what there is to show. But to leave each moment, each place here with the stars, is to make room for a new night to love and travel far, to love and travel far, to love and travel far, to love and travel far... Words and music written by Brendon Massei. c. & p. Broken Porch Music, ASCAP.
11.
"I Live For Love" by Viking Moses I live for love, and I can hardly wait 'til some night, late, when I see her. The moon and stars all know just what I'm thinking of, that I love for love! Song originally written by Daniel Johnston.

about

"The Conquest Night" (a children's story of sorts) is about two rural youths who go out past their curfew, and the situations they get themselves into and out of along the way: wild dog attacks, forest fires, exploring abandoned houses, skinny dipping, confrontations with other adolescents on their own adventure; to experience the night of their life only to learn to let it go to make room for the new nights yet to come! This story is told from the point in time where innocent love has yet to approach the arbitrary fork where it decides to separate its romantic aspects from those platonic.
